How to make orchestral music on computer1/20/2023 ![]() This is not something you want to do to yourself as a beginning composer who doesn't have at least semi-professional composition software like Reaper (this used to be semi-free but I'm not sure if it still is), cubase, protools or even Live, even though I'd never suggest using Ableton Live for orchestral compositions. It takes skill and a lot of time to learn this. It takes knowledge of how instruments work, how to layer them, how to position them etc. ![]() ![]() Note however, that I've used it as an expansion on already good sounding virtual instruments.īut the very most important part is that arranging orchestral music is an art. I've had some small success using so I advise you to try that. Then, finding actual, good sounding orchestral VSTs for free is an exercise in futility. If it is, for actual (midi) comping Sibelius is best but it requires you to have a working knowledge of musical theory. But I don't think it's midi sound you're looking for. Most DAWs aren't free, least of all the actually useful ones. You could use any random midi software to create some music.
